Fly Geyser. USA

Fly Geyser is an incredibly beautiful geothermal geyser, with a height of about 1.5 meters. It is located about 30 kilometers from the city Gerlach in Nevada, United States, at an altitude of 1230 meters above sea level.

This is not a natural phenomenon, but a man-made beauty. In fact, it is not even a geyser, as Fly is a permanent thermal source, and geyser – is periodical. In 1916, the workers were looking for oil field in Nevada, and began drilling a well in this area. They reached the underground lake, the works were stopped and the hole was left. In the 60s, the various reactions that began to take place underground, caused the heating of the water and the dissolution of salt. All this led to the formation of the hill around the well.

Geyser still continues to grow. The water came out onto the surface (in 1964) forming a beautiful fountain. It created a beautiful lake, terraces and cliffs. 40 basins were formed on the territory of 30 hectares for 50 years. Sulfur dioxide and other minerals dissolved in the water give geyser such an interesting color.

It was not a noteworthy boggy place and people were not interested in it. But after photos of the geyser appeared in the media, photographers and tourists seek to come here from all over the world. However, it is not so easy to do. The point is that this is a private area, surrounded by a fence and gate. The owners don’t agree to sell the lands, so they give an admission for the examination of this unusual attraction. Moreover, they forbade the environmental organizations to monitor the state and development of the geyser.

Geyser has already changed the surrounding countryside beyond recognition. Maybe in a few years it will look more beautiful and amazing.
