Merger of North and Baltic Seas

Such an unusual natural phenomenon as the meeting of two seas can be seen around the resort town of Skagen. It is the northernmost point of Denmark. This is where you can watch the merging of two seas – the North and the Baltic Seas. Although, the merger of these seas is impossible, because their waters have different densities. In addition, North Sea has a salinity of one and a half times higher than the Baltic. The border is also clearly expressed due to the two opposite straits, which overlap to form colliding waves.

The locals call this place the edge of the world. You can sensate this amazing attraction and see with your own eyes. For this purpose you need to go from the parking area for about 1-1.5 km and walk on the sand of the headland Grenen, which separates the straits Skagerrak and Kattegat. Eyewitnesses claim that it is an unforgettable sight. Here you can stand with one foot in the North Sea, and the other – in the Baltic Sea. But be careful, because the water flow is very strong here. Therefore, swimming in this place is strictly prohibited.

The Cape is washed by the Gulf Stream and is known for the largest number of sunny days per year. This makes Skagen the resort capital of Denmark. The town is quite small and is far from the big cities. But Skagen attracts tourists with its wild beaches and wonderful sights. It is a very picturesque town, dotted with low yellow houses with red tile roofs. Here are the most expensive and exclusive villas of aristocratic and business elite of the country and the whole Scandinavia
