Mount Kailash is a part of the mountain range of the Tibetan Plateau, located in China. This is a very unusual mountain. It is located in an obstructed area of Western Tibet and is considered as a sacred mountain, shrouded in mysticism and ancient legends.
It all starts with the general characteristics of the mountain. Kailash has a height of 6666 m. In addition, the distance from the mountain to the monument of Stonehenge in England – 6666 kilometers, to the North Pole – 6666km, to the South Pole – twice 6666 kilometers. The axis connecting meridians of Kailash with the Egyptian pyramids goes straight to the Easter Island, where the legendary stone statues are located.
Since ancient times, Mount Kailash was worshiped by the Eastern cosmologies as Mount Meru, the axis of the physical and metaphysical universe, and therefore it was sacred for four religions: Bön, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. For the followers of Hinduism, the sacred Mount Meru is a center of life and the abode of the almighty Shiva. The followers of Tantric Buddhism believe that many-armed Samvara lives on top of the mountain. The followers of Jainism make multiday transitions from India to worship the holy mountain. According to the legend, the founder of the ancient Tibetan Bon religion – Shenrab descended from heaven to the top of Mount Kailash. Another legend says that Mount Kailash is the entrance to the mystical land of Shambhala.
The top of this mysterious Mountain still remains unconquered. All the expeditions were not successful. It sounds incredible, but the mountain just doesn’t accept people! Each time, new obstacles appeared on the way to the top of Kailash. Professor Yury Zakharov was able go further of all. In 2004, his expedition climbed to an altitude of more than 6300 m on the southern slope. The further movement of the inexperienced group was impossible without special equipment and because of the adverse weather conditions.
Dalai Lama, the United Nations, a number of major international organizations, millions of believers around the world expressed their protest to conquer Kailash. The religious texts of Buddhism and Hinduism say the following about the Kailash: “No mortal dares to climb the mountain where the gods dwell, the one who sees the faces of the gods must die.”
In addition to mysticism by which the mountain attracts attention millions of people, Kailash is also famous for its natural beauty. The shape of the mountain is very similar to a pyramid – its verges are focused precisely on all parts of the world. It stands in absolute solitude in all its glory, not surrounded by any other peaks. Its rounded top is symmetric and has distinct horizontal and vertical grooves. This fact caused another name of Kailash – Mount Swastika (a symbol of prosperity in Hinduism and symbol of spiritual power in Buddhism).
Many scientists believe that Kailash may be not a mountain, but a huge stone pyramid. If this hypothesis is proven, Kailash will be the largest pyramid in the world, surpassing the size of Pyramid of Cheops.
Many scientists have come to believe that Mount Kailash was artificially created for the concentration of power of the last of the land and the energy of the future of the cosmos. It is assumed that it can be built in the form of a crystal, part of which is hidden in the ground. Kailash was created about 20 thousand years ago, while the Tibetan plateau is already more than 5 million years.
Another interesting fact about the sacred Mount Kailash says that people age faster next to it. Thus, 12 hours near the mountain are considered for about 2 weeks. It is proved by the growth of hair and nails.
